Mineral Desiccant: Frequently Asked Questions
The key difference is the shape and dust level. Our Mineral Desiccant uses Attapulgite clay processed into hard, round beads. This makes them physically stronger and virtually dust-free compared to the irregular, crushed texture of standard Montmorillonite clay, which can create dust during friction.
It depends on the humidity. At low-to-medium humidity (RH < 50%), Mineral Desiccant performs comparably to Silica Gel. While Silica Gel has a higher total capacity at extreme humidity, Mineral Desiccant offers a far better price point and is 100% biodegradable, making it the smart choice for sustainable packaging.
While the raw material is natural and non-toxic, our standard industrial mineral desiccant is designed for non-food applications. For food applications, we recommend our specialized Desiccant or Oxygen Absorbers. Please consult our team for food-grade options.
Because Attapulgite is a natural mineral, the desiccant beads are 100% biodegradable and can be disposed of as general waste without harming the environment. It degrades rapidly in nature.
